What is it?

LOTI has produced a guide concerning the use of apprenticeships to support the recruitment of new digital talent into boroughs and upskilling of current staff.

• LOTI’s guide to digital, data, technology and innovation apprenticeships provides an overview of a huge range of apprenticeships currently suitable for existing or new staff within digital, data, innovation and technology.
• It includes descriptions and links to the apprenticeship standards available for delivery at levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (degree) and 7 (masters). Each digital standard is summarised, and live links are provided to the standards and registered training providers.
• It was updated in March 2026.

Why did we create this resource?

In order to realise their ambitions for digital transformation, London boroughs need to have access to people with the right skills and talents. The use of apprenticeships is a powerful and cost-effective means for councils to build their talent pipeline.

Who should use the guide?

The guide is designed to help anyone responsible for developing and recruiting digital talent in their organisation, such as CIOs to HR Directors.
