LOTI Digital Apprenticeship Guides

What is it?

LOTI has produced two guides concerning the use of apprenticeships to support the recruitment of new digital talent into boroughs and upskilling of current staff.

  • The ‘Digital Apprenticeship Guide‘ (accessible version) was developed with CHR Solutions, and provides an overview of digital apprenticeships currently available to councils. It includes descriptions and links to the digital apprenticeship standards available for delivery at levels 3, 4, 6 (degree) and 7 (masters). Each digital standard is summarised, and the end-point assessment methods are listed. Live links are provided to the standards, the registered training providers and end-point assessment (EPA) organisations.
  • The ‘How to HackIT x LOTI guide‘ was developed by LOTI and Hackney to help people who work in Digital and IT teams in local authorities know how to set up and run a digital apprenticeship programme.

Why did we create these resources?

In order to realise their ambitions for digital transformation, London boroughs need to have access to people with the right skills and talents. The use of apprenticeships is a powerful and cost-effective means for councils to build their talent pipeline.

Who should use the guides?

These guides are designed to help anyone responsible for developing and recruiting digital talent in their organisation, such as CIOs to HR Directors.
