Serious Violence Duty Data Sharing Requirements

Background

The Serious Violence Duty in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 requires local partnerships to complete a Strategic Needs Assessment to understand how violence is affecting their communities, and design a response through a Violence Reduction Strategy.

Meeting the Serious Violence Duty requires sharing statistical and personal data between partners on a regular basis to:

• identify the issues and needs of the community.
• develop approaches to reducing serious violence in the community.
• monitor the effectiveness of any violence reduction strategy.

LOTI makes this presentation available to assist London Community Safety Partnerships and it describes the London Data Sharing Agreement landscape. However, non-London organisations may find it a useful review of responsibilities and approaches to delivering the Serious Violence Duty.
