The Digital Befriending Kit (also referred to as ‘the kit’) aims to augment a standard tablet computer to make it easier for people with little experience of technology to access Zoom video calls (called ‘meetings’ in the Zoom app) and therefore participate in online social activities with friends, family and community groups.
Our approach for this project has been to use, adjust and enhance readily-available consumer devices rather than create expensive specialist ‘accessibility aids’. As well as being less expensive, this approach helps to build user confidence, which can then flourish into broader use of digital technology.
