This toolkit was developed by London Borough of Hounslow, Brent Council and Social Finance, with support from the London Office of Technology and Innovation (LOTI).
It seeks to share the methods, approaches and outputs of the ‘Developing a Professional Linkage Platform in Adult Social Care’ project so that other Local Authorities (LAs) can replicate this approach.
Each section contains practical advice, guidance and tips to support implementation of the Family Context tool.
Setting the conditions for success: This section outlines the project management, governance and coordination activities considered essential for laying the foundations of a successful project.
Understanding the local context: This section provides practical tips for conducting user research with frontline practitioners in order to gather the evidence base for the implementation of the Family Context tool and tailor it to the needs of the local environment.
Technical considerations: This section gives technical practitioners more information about the technical deployment of the tool.
Ownership and governance: This section outlines considerations for setting up governance structures for the tool to move from prototype into operational delivery.
Expansion of data and users: This section contains advice about how the tool can be enriched as it moves beyond prototype.
The tool is not an easy thing to implement. It requires time, careful engagement with a range of partners, and sufficient technical skills to ensure its successful implementation. As such, this is not an exhaustive guide, and there will inevitably be challenges that arise in your implementation that we have not advised on over the course of this toolkit.
